Take a picture of the back of your neck

I was excited to finally see Howler at the Echo last Friday night. I remember when I first heard them, it was instantly catchy and love at first sound. It wasn't available on iTunes yet, so I would listen to it on YouTube. Nerdy, I know. Eventually, the album came out and I purchased it, of course, only to be pleasantly surprised with more awesome songs, such as Beach Sluts.

This is the first illustration I made when I was working on the Simple Song video but it didn't fit at all with the mood. It landed on the cutting room floor. So I revamped their outfits and turned it into a February Valentine's illustration to post here. Cue Mona song.

Don't wrestle with the night

I've been waiting for Dry The River to come play a show in LA and I was excited when they finally did. Even with high expectations, they didn't disappoint at all. It felt so good to see a great live act again. Some time last year when I first heard "New Ceremony", it gave me chills. It was a heavy and hopeful song that was so beautiful, and the vocals had a Jeff Buckley magical quality to it. "No Rest" is pretty awesome, too. I believe they only have an EP out and I couldn't find a U.S. release date for their album, but I will definitely be picking up a copy as soon as it's out.
