If you don't remember, you will remember soon

But if you wait
I will take your hand
and you'll understand

The Horrors at the El Rey October 1, 2009 was a bit of a deja vu. We saw them two years ago there. That was a great show. This was an amazing show. Except for some annoying parts like the obnoxious guy in front of me who kept throwing things towards the stage and really tried his best to annoy the crap out of me, which he really did and I had to mentally tell myself not to let this dude get to me, and then later the security guard that kept telling me to stop taking pictures, and I wasn't sure what was bothering Faris, maybe the sound system or something. Besides all that, it was another awesome live performance and I was just happy to be able to see them again. "Do You Remember" is a great song. Sometimes when I'm listening to it on my iPod at work, it makes me want to cry.

I only think of you

It doesn't get any better than this. This night was perfect. The Horrors are currently touring the US. They stopped by the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, CA. It took me about an hour and a half to get there in traffic. It was pretty far, but so worth it. We stood in the front. It was such a perfect small intimate venue. Japanese Motors opened the show and I've been wanting to see them. I like their songs and heard about the band on Indie 103.1 of course a while ago. The Horrors played such a great set. The crowd loved them. They had amazing energy. There was just something so special to hear all those songs live in such a small venue. I will never forget this night. I've been a Horrors fan from the beginning and I really loved their early stuff, like the Horrors Theme and all. But, their new album, Primary Colours, is really truly amazing. You really need to listen to the album. When I first got the album, "I Only Think of You" stood out to me, and it was lovely to hear it live in person right there in front of me. I was very happy.

Pump your brakes, kid

Went to go see Amazing Baby at the Troubadour. When I googled this band recently, I read reviews about how they first heard of this band usually mentioned in the same sentence as MGMT. I can honestly say that when I first heard of this band, it was on Indie 103.1 and it was not anything related to MGMT. Just wanted to get that out of the way because it annoyed me. As for the show, it was good, of course. They opened with Headdress and closed with Pump Yr Brakes. Really good. Think they just wrapped up their US tour with the Entrance Band.

So pretty much everyone in LA has heard of the Entrance Band. This was my first time seeing them live. I have to be completely honest when I say I'm not a huge fan of psychadelic music. Don't get mad. The ones who know me, it's not a big surprise. But I will say that I was very much impressed with the Entrance Band. Blown away at how great they were. I instantly noticed that the singer was left handed but, at one point, I was wondering why his volume knobs were on top, not the bottom. Then I looked at his guitar strings and realized he was playing a right hander's guitar, left handed. Amazing. I was also very much mesmerized by the bassist.
