Fell on the floor

Red Cortez opened the night's show. They're really good and solid. I've seen them once before, but heard of them ever since they were the Weather Underground. Very good set and impressive vocals. They will be on tour with The Airborne Toxic Event. Make sure to check them out when they stop by your town.

Shady Lane by Pavement is one of my all-time favorite songs. Just makes you kinda sigh. And so cleverly written. Anyways, you can get these awesome Woodstock posters at Target! They even had t-shirts and other cute merch. But I like these posters the best. I didn't get them. But maybe I should've. But I wasn't ready to replace the red-framed poster of the Ramones in our living room. Maybe I could just buy it and store it somewhere, or put it on my studio desk. Hmm...

Well she was an American girl

Kinda late, I know. But, whatever. Here are the pics from the awesome NW's 4th of July Pool party/bbq. This day was a crazy day for me. I tried to go to the American Apparel factory sale, but I got in line for about 10 seconds and then decided it was way too long. What is this, Disneyland? So I gave it up and picked up some take out Sushi for lunch. Shopped for ingredients to take to the bbq. I made pigs-in-a-blanket! They're really good. And I was happy to see that everyone ate it and it was gone in an hour or so. Yay! There were lots of people, lots of good food (thanks to S!), good music, great weather. I'm always happy to see the old JL crew. They're really the best. The sun set and we watched fire works set to the soundtrack of some live music by our rockstar musicians. :)

I walked away from the best thing I ever had

Since I was sick earlier in the week, I almost didn't make it to this show. I had to go to work on Thursday even if I wasn't feeling my best. And couldn't really concentrate, just tried to focus on working and catching up with emails. We're really busy, so I ended up staying at work til 6:30. Seriously, for a minute there I decided not to go see Amazing Baby. Then I got home and thought to myself, are you joking? I mean, it's the Hammer Museum. It's freaking Amazing Baby. So I went and I am so glad I did. I saw all three bands. Dazzler opened and Band of Skulls also played. See separate post below. LA weather right now is below normal, that meant I had to wear a sweater. Still anxiously waiting for those real summer nights. Anyways, I just never got a chance to check out Amazing Baby before this show. Of course, I wanted to. I had a great front spot, right in front of Simon. Which is the most perfect spot to see them and hear them live. The fogger machine was intense. Sometimes, I couldn't see in front of me. But it was great. Listening to "Headdress" live sent chills down my spine. It was epic. Really, exciting, good stuff. Loved it. Note, look at their drumset color and the clear translucent guitar. And have you SEEN the music video? Omg. Please check out Amazing Baby.

Band of Skulls
A cool British band. You should check them out. Their sound was really blues-y rock but with a hard powerful edge. The crowd just loved them. Think their set was really good.










Dazzler
An LA band I've heard about via Check 1,2 on the now defunct Indie103.1. Their songs are energetic and fun.

Think about it first, before you make it worse

Lately, I have been overworking myself and not taking care, so Monday was a crazy day, worked the whole day and had to go buy samples, shopped until 8pm, had to go to two malls. I was starving. Then Tuesday morning around 4, I start throwing up. Ugh, the whole day yesterday I kept throwing up and feeling like crap. Yeah, I couldn't even eat, and it took all energy out of me. Even in the midst of all this, I was stressed because I wanted to stop by work to drop off the freaking samples. And to make it worse, I had bought tickets to the screening of 500 Days of Summer and Q&A with the director, writer, and actors, and after-party. Guess what? I couldn't make it! And Marc Webb is my favorite mv director ever. Seriously. Long time fan. Long long long time fan and I go crazy when it comes to his videos. I watch a video and not know who the director is, and I fall in love with it, it always turns out to be his. So, fifty bucks down the drain, and my chance to meet my favorite director lost. Teaching myself a lesson the hard way to always put my health and well being first. Take care of yourselves! Have a great weekend.
