I'm a Pisces, yes, I am. Celebrated my birthday super low key this year. We had sushi for lunch. I opted for little desserts from Porto's instead of the traditional cake. During Christmas, my sister received so many cakes, we're still kind of sick of them right now. Well, at least I am. Over the weekend, I made a little best of punk mix CD. Oh, and don't try to figure out my age or anything because the number of candles shown here is not how old I am. Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

Went to the fabric and trim stores last week to get some stuff for work. Had to go back to buy more. Here are a few pictures of how overwhelming and happy this place makes me. I just freak out at all the good stuff and my head starts spinning. At least this time I had a specific work-related mission, although I was tempted to buy stuff for me, I didn't. The garment district in Downtown Los Angeles is massive, yes. But I'm a pro at finding the right things thanks to coming here since I was a little teenager. I used to come here almost every Saturday with my mom. Then in college, I used to walk from school to get things for projects. Anyways, how good are those sequin stripe fabrics?

There's nothing like walking down Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica on a clear winter day listening to the guitarist playing "Sleepwalk". It made me feel blue but so good at the same time. I was there for work. The lone musician, an old man, playing his guitar on the sidewalk. How much music meant to me, how much this song meant to me, and how little it mattered to a lot of the people around. I felt what he felt as he played that song. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Loved this song as a very little kid and is one of my all time favorites. It's winter and the blues have surely caught up with me.

Last Thursday, we went to the screening party for HBO's new series "How To Make It In America". It was in this cool downtown penthouse. The views and the cold night air from the rooftop was refreshing. Aloe Blacc from Stones Throw Records performed a short set after the screening. Free food and open bar. Had a good time with my awesome coworkers. Here are a few pics.

"Valentine's Day is a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap."
-Joel from "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
The Valentine's Day mix was inevitable for the month of February. But don't expect any mushy songs you love listening to when you feel smitten. However, please note that much thought went into the song selection. After all, it's exactly what love and relationships are all about.

Yes. That's the real deal. The actual costumes from the movie. Saturday night, I went out to the opening night reception of the Annual Costume Design Exhibit at the FIDM Gallery. It's always magical and amazing to see the actual costumes live in person. There were also many of the costume designers at the event talking about how they made certain pieces. They even had Coraline figures and that was amazing. The details on those things were fascinating. The rain had stopped by Saturday, so it was cold but nice outside. We ate yummy ravioli and salads followed by sweet desserts and delicious coffee. Anyways, the good part is that you too can go check out the exhibit as it is now open to the public. Just check out FIDM for more information.
